·         Elicited behavioral and medical histories regarding communication, cognition and swallowing disorders in adults.

·         Patient/Family/Staff education regarding communication, cognition and swallowing disorders in adults.

·         Assessment, treatment and advocacy for adult patients with communication, cognition and swallowing disorders.

 

Otolaryngology Outpatient Clinic, University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics – Madison, WI – Graduate Student Clinician (9/04-5/05)

·         Elicited behavioral and medical histories regarding adult voice disorders, Paradoxical Vocal Fold Motion (PVFM) in children and adults, chronic cough, and/or dysphagia.

·         Analyzed flexible and rigid videostroboscopic film of the larynx and velopharyngeal port.

·         Developed and executed resonant voice therapy plans

·         Provided singing therapy for injured singers (trained and untrained singers) and velopharyngeal/articulation therapy using Nasometer for patient with traumatic brain injury (TBI)

·         Performed formal and informal communication assessments for an adult with moderate non-fluent aphasia and a child with Down Syndrome

·         Developed and executed therapy programs for clients

·         Developed home practice program for adult with moderate non-fluent aphasia

·         Collaborated with clients’ families to determine functional therapy stimuli and objectives such as incorporating an augmentative device into therapy sessions

University of Wisconsin Speech and Hearing Clinics (UWSHC): Auditory (Re)habilitation Clinic – Madison, WI Graduate Student Clinician (9/03-12/03)

·         Conducted assessments and developed appropriate therapies for children aged 2-6 with language delays in a language stimulation group

·         Conducted assessments and developed appropriate therapy for an adult preparing for cochlear implantation

·         Provided adult education regarding cochlear implants, the process by which implants are obtained, and realistic expectations post-implant

·         Provided breathing therapy to improve adult voice projection

Provided assessment and treatment protocol for an ongoing anomia study at UW-Madison under the leadership of Jamie Mayer, Ph. D. candidate at Indiana University (2005).
